Free Old Time Radio Shows from

When I was growing up in San Francisco there was a radio station that broadcast old radio shows every night.  I fell in love with them.  If you've never listened to one, check some of these out.  Listening is a very different experience than reading or watching because your imagination fills in the blanks-its much more engaging.

I'd recommend these from the site:
Bold Venture-"adventure, intrigue, mystery and romance in the sultry settings of tropical Havana and the mysterious islands of the Caribbean."  Starring Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall (can't go wrong with that combo)

CBS Radio Mystery Theater:
Actually not an old show, it ran in the 1970's. Similar in format to Inner Sanctum, Lights Out and The Whistler.  The talented E.G. Marshall was the host

The Whistler:
"I am the Whistler, and I know many things, for I walk by night. I know many strange tales, many secrets hidden in the hearts of men and women who have stepped into the shadows. I know the nameless terrors of which they dare not speak." Good show, but this guy is not high on my list of dinner guests.

Cute Cthulhu cosplay? I think not. When He Who Sleeps awakens and reclaims dominion over the earth, this assclown will have his brains sucked out through the eyes.

Whew! No need to expound on the works of the master, but do scroll down to the essays and read this one: Supernatural Horror in Literature with bibliography. A very insightful analysis of the genre.
