"Nothing is more challenging, nothing less sentimental, than the invitation of spirit to become who we are and not who we think we ought to be."

The Facebook scene is like High School but with a veneer of "adult" sensibilities? No thanks, life is too short to waste time with that bullshit again.

Fascinating! I just finished his book, 1421-quite an engrossing & entertaining read. He proposes that several massive Chinese fleets circumnavigated the globe in the early 1400's. And had regular contact with the Americas long before the Europeans. The evidence presented does make a compelling argument, but just to be fair, this is a site debunking his theories.

An important story, and worth reading all the way through. Because even though this the final year of the Bush presidency (and there's no way he'll be impeached), the truth needs to see the light of day. If there's enough outrage and investigation, perhaps some checks on the Imperial presidency will be put in place. Otherwise we'll all wake up someday and wonder where we lost the Republic.
And bringing these offenses to light might help keep the next guy honest.

Michael Savage is less than an ignorant tool, he's a knuckle dragging toolbox. I try not to advocate violence, but if anyone is in need of a serious beat down, its him. Feh!
Actually, the worst thing that could happen to him and his ilk, is if nobody listened anymore.

A Buddhist approach to addiction and recovery. The site is new but has some useful links and shows promise. And really anyone could benefit from the Buddhist writings on attachments, suffering, mindfulness and meditation-you don't have to be addicted to something. I'm not that attracted to the Zen tradition (too austere for this wandering Catholic) but I found this book on the 12 Steps very helpful with my own process.
