If I stumbled(no pun intended) on one of these in my house, I would bail in a heartbeat. Because I've seen enough movies to know only disaster will follow. Either:

A)The guy who took the rap for the robbery will show up looking for the money he stashed there-soon to be followed by the rest of the gang who've been waiting for him to to just that.

B)Somebody got waxed in the secret room and their restless ghost has been waiting to be discovered so they can unleash their terrible vengeance.

C)Its a gateway to the Realm of the Cenobites.

What a great idea! Haven't done it it awhile, but back in the day I spent quite a few weekend music festivals in leaky, cramped and odorous tents(there was no way I was bringing my top of the line backpacking tent to a concert). A couple of these would have really sweetened the experience.

But there's another application for these: temporary shelters for refugees, disaster victims, etc. Cheap, lightweight, easy to ship. Perfect! And the company also makes showers and toilets to go with the shelters.

He makes a good point. We value appearance and style more than substance and integrity. Not surprising in a culture where image is the primary means of communication...the irony of writing that statement in StumbleUpon does not escape me.

WOW! A truly stunning conclusion. It would never have occurred to me.

I think I'll apply for a research grant to conduct a related study: Why do people have sex at all?

I have a couple of theories ;-)

If you're a comic book fan, this is an important question and focus for debate & discussion. If you're not, well, send us a postcard from the pop culture hinterlands ;-)

For the record, Secret Invasion gets my vote. DC has spread itself so thin with its endemic and reoccurring crises, that nothing matters or makes sense in their universe anymore.

But then I'm a Marvel partisan.

His latest film is Standard Operating Procedure, a study of the incidents of abuse and torture at the Abu Ghraib prison.

From the page: "First of all, I don't think that the central issue is torture at all. The central issue is what kind of a society we want to have in this country. Right now, we have a society that's deeply polarized. People are semi-hysterical, I might add, including myself. There seems to be a paucity of any kind of rational discourse. And the whole government doesn't seem to be working. It's a very odd time. It seems very different to me than Vietnam. I can't quite put my finger on it."

If you haven't seen his documentaries, do so without delay! His style is very unique and engaging. And how he gets his interview subjects to forget they're being interviewed is amazing.

I'd recommend The Thin Blue Line and Fast, Cheap & Out of Control to start.
